The Fifth president – Yitzhak Forem, of blessed memory

President of the Diamond Exchange from 1993 to 1998.

Lifelong Honorary President of the Diamond Exchange.

President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses from 1998 to 2000.

Yitzhak Forem was born in 1938 in Poland. He spent his childhood in the shadow of the Holocaust. In 1949, he immigrated to Israel. In 1956, after his graduation, he joined the Israel Defense Forces, serving in the Armored Corps, eventually attaining the rank of colonel (in the IDF reserve forces).

In 1961, he began working at the Union Bank where he held a variety of management positions for sixteen years. In 1978, he was elected Chairman of "Background" – a public fund providing grants to institutions of public security, health and education. In the same year he resigned from the Union Bank and joined the diamond industry.

In 1983, he became an independent diamantaire and in 1987 he was elected for the first time as a member of the Diamond Exchange directorate, serving as Security Committee Chairman, Financial Committee Chairman, Current Issues Administration Committee Chairman, Insurance Committee Chairman and Vice President.

In 1993, he was elected for the first time to serve as President of the Diamond Exchange and in 1995,he was reelected for a second term.

In 1998, he was elected President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and in the same year he completed his term as President of the Israel Diamond Exchange.

In April 2000 the Israel Diamond Exchange awarded him the title Lifelong Honorary President and in July of the same year he completed his term as President of the WFDB.

Yitzhak Form passed away on 31 August 2010 at the age of 72.
