Alrosa Head Andreev Resigns For Medical Reasons

Andreev announced his resignation at the firm's weekly management meeting on Monday.

Fyodor Andreev, the President and CEO of Russian diamond miner Alrosa, is resigning for medical reasons, the company said today (Monday).

His position is being taken by first vice-president Ilya Ryashchin, who will serve as acting president of the firm.

Andreev will remain involved in the company's management, as a member of its Supervisory Board.

Andreev has served as CEO since July 2009. His main achievement was the share offering of 16 percent of the firm's stock on the Moscow Stock Exchange in October 2013.
