IDI Offers Find Your Diamond in Chinese And On Mobiles

The Chinese system will be launched at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

The 'Find Your Diamond' innovative trade show search platform originated by the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) is being expanded to include a Chinese version in addition to an English one.

Moreover, buyers will also be able to access 'Find Your Diamond' on smartphones, as well as at dedicated terminals. The system enables buyers to search a computerized database of all goods offered by Israeli exhibitors at the show.

The Israel Diamond Pavilion will once again be one of largest at the September show. The pavilion, organized by IDI, will extend over more than 1,200 square meters and will feature 98 companies. There will also be about 20 additional Israeli companies exhibiting locations throughout the show.

The Israel Diamond Pavilion will be located in Hall 7, 9 and 11 of the Asia World Expo. A special lounge area for buyers will be located at the heart of the pavilion. The IDI Lounge will feature three Find Your Diamond terminals and will serve refreshments throughout the day.

The September Hong Kong Show is one of the most important on the global industry calendar. IDI invests a great deal in industry promotion at the show. This year IDI will again be sponsoring the show’s opening reception, which always attracts a huge turnout. In addition IDI is again an Honoured Partner of the JNA Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong on September 20.

The Israeli diamond industry sees Asian markets, led by Hong Kong, as among the most important long-term growth areas for Israeli diamonds. Hong Kong is Israel’s second-largest market for polished diamonds after the United States, representing close to 30% of Israel’s total polished exports. Israel’s net polished diamond exports to Hong Kong reached $1.9 billion in 2014.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said that he was cautiously optimistic about the outcome of the show. “We are hoping to attract buyers from all over Asia – Hong Kong, China, India and elsewhere as well as far away as the U.S. and Australia. This is a slow period in most Asian markets and our experience in previous shows in Hong Kong this year has been mixed. But as can be seen from the size of the Israeli participation in this show, we believe in the Asian markets and we are in them for the long haul,” he said.
