IDE Holds Toast Ceremony for Jewish New Year

IDE President Yoram Dvash: "We believe in producing diamonds and plan to open two major diamond polishing plants soon."

A toast to the Jewish New Year was held yesterday in the modern manufacturing center.

IDE President Yoram Dvash said: "There has been a slight improvement in the industry which was seen at the Hong Kong show, and we hope that this trend will continue."

In addition to President Yoram Dvash, also attending were Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association President Kobi Korn, the Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute, Shmuel Schnitzer, the CEO of Israel Diamond Exchange, Eli Avidar, new IDE vice president, Israel Wanchovski, IDE board members Hezi Blum, Emma Yanover, Hani Yisrael and Yehoram Harel Haimov, the modern manufacturing center manager Menachem Meulam and his staff.

Yoram Dvash said he was glad to be taking part in the ceremony in the manufacturing center. "This kind of place always makes me smile and always makes me feel good. Polishing has known hard times and not so hard times, but we believe in producing diamonds and plan to open two major diamond polishing plants soon. There is little improvement that was reflected at the Hong Kong fair which was a little better than previous exhibitions and we hope this is a new trend. A wish you all a happy new year."

Korn, in his comments, spoke about the high average age of the polishing workers in Israel. He said the industry was doing everything in its power to bring in younger workers in order to retain the skills in Israel for many years to come.

Shmuel Schnitzer said his motto has long been that a country without manufacturing is not a business center.
