As with previous editions of the US/International Diamond Week, hundreds of buyers from dozens of countries are expected to visit the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) trading hall where the event will again take place.

Scores of members of the Israel Diamond Exchange have updated their Facebook pages with heart-shaped images with text saying "I'm also taking part in the Diamond Week".

Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) Managing Director Ofer Laufman began the meeting, explaining that it was aimed at providing IDE members with an insight into technological advances at Sarine Technologies.

Almost 90 of Antwerp's leading diamond manufacturing and trading firms are displaying a wide range of polished diamonds at the event.

The Diamond Administration of the Economy Ministry has published its list of the top 20 Israeli diamond exporters for 2013. The top spot was again taken by Leo Schachter Diamonds which registered a 3.5% increase in exports to $328 million from $317 million in 2012.

Established 26 years ago, Sarine, is a leading worldwide firm in the development and manufacturing of advanced evaluation, planning, cutting, shaping, polishing and grading systems for diamond and gemstone production.

India's polished diamond exports in December increased 15.6-percent on the year to $1.10 billion, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported.

The first such event in Israel takes place from March 9 to 13 with the participation of two of the largest diamond miners in the world – De Beers and Rio Tinto.

The exchange plays a critical role in the country's diamond trading.

The agreement came following a meeting at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) between the bank's Managing Director, Eldad Fresher, and leading members of the Israeli diamond sector.

The forecast is based on the assumption that the miner will hold two tenders of exceptional diamonds this year.

The offer follows recent industry fears over the mixing of synthetic diamonds with natural diamond parcels.
