'Ebay Recognizes Potential Of The Diamond Sector'

The comment was made by the IDE President Yoram Dvash at an advanced Ebay marketing seminar for graduates of the previous eBay course. The IDE will launch a new and unique additional Internet marketing venture for exchange members.

The IDE held an advanced sales meeting for eBay graduates at the Leonardo City Tower Hotel Tel Aviv with the participation of the IDE President, Yoram Dvash, and Business Division Manager at eBay Israel, Elad Goldenberg. The aim of the seminar was to provide graduates of the first eBay marketing course, extra advanced tools for marketing diamonds on the world's greatest sales site.

Yoram Dvash spoke of the unique and successful collaboration with eBay and the rise in importance of the diamond sector on the leading platform in the world. "I want to thank everyone involved in the work, and especially to my team and to Elad, the manager of the business development. I usually like small and well-established steps, but based on this, our collaboration with eBay is bearing fruit. EBay, which has sales of $100 billion a year, is cooperating with the Israel Diamond Exchange, and that is unprecedented in the world," he said.

Dvash spoke about the potential of marketing diamonds on eBay and said, "I've had a lot of doubts about whether to mention our work with eBay at the World Diamond Congress in Dubai in May which may lead other exchanges to copy us, but I think I will leave it at home. We are in continuous touch with eBay and talk nearly every week. It's no secret that there are issues that we struggle with, but I see the difficulties from close up and am aware of them. However, it takes time for the eBay system to make changes and adapt the site for exchange members. But what is important for us is that the system has detected the diamond sector as potentially a very large industry and I am optimistic about the future."

Business Division Manager of eBay, Elad Goldenberg, said: "It's not a minor thing to see the cooperation of a traditional industry with eBay in this manner. Yoram wondered whether to share this model with other countries, which is something that eBay is examining. I would be very happy when something new came out here to do with the people who are here today, but we're right in the beginning and it's not simple".

Goldenberg said that the aim of the seminar was to provide advanced marketing tools for course graduates. "The basic course you've done is not enough. We see the potential for the rest of the way, so we have created a seminar to help you reach the next stage. Today we'll talk about the marketing tools that will take you to places that that the regular eBay seller does not reach. We will also deal with policy changes and updates that are very relevant in the diamond sector. This shows the trend of eBay to introduce the diamond sector as a very significant area of the platform.

"As a result of the collaboration with the exchange, and understanding the needs of the members, we went to United States and asked to make changes to allow you to do your job better. This also applies on the subject of shipping and the process of product returns. We know it's not perfect, and we are in contact with Yoram Dvash, and Director-General Eli Avidar in order to give you solutions and I hope that some of them you already received today. I wish you a successful year in terms of sales targets and destinations," said Goldenberg.
