Initial Meetings Held at the 2015 Presidents Meeting

The formal opening session of the Presidents Meeting will take place on Monday.

The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) started their discussions at the 2015 Presidents Meeting in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

The formal opening session of the Presidents Meeting will take place on Monday.

The WFDB began the day with a meeting of its Judicial Committee and the Trade & Promotion Committee.

Rami Baron, President of the Diamond Dealers Club of Australia, chaired the WFDB’s Trade and Promotions Committee, and told the gathering about its work to use social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to boost coverage of the work of the global organization.

Meanwhile, Alex Popov, President of the Moscow Diamond Bourse, Chairman of the World Diamond Mark Foundation and a member of the Trade & Promotion Committee, told the meeting about the body's work to boost generic marketing.

In the afternoon session, the WFDB held a meeting of the body's Executive Committee Meeting, before members moved to the Israel Diamond Exchange where the GIA's Vice President and Chief Laboratory and Research Officer Tom Moses provided the presidents of the WFDB and of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) with an update on the lab's work.

That was followed by the opening of a new exhibition at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum in Ramat Gan called 'Diamonds On 45'. WFDB President Ernie Blom told the opening event that the Museum was keeping diamonds in the public eye with exhibits that were relevant to the general public and would attract visitors to the Museum to learn about the process of diamonds, from mine to retail store.
